19-Year-Old Dies by Suicide on Instagram Live
A tragic incident unfolded in the Janjgir Champa district of Chhattisgarh, where a 19-year-old social media content creator named Ankur Nath died by suicide while streaming live on Instagram. As per TOI’s report, the horrifying event, which took place on December 29, was not discovered until days later, on Thursday. Ankur, who lived with her elder sister in Nawagarh, a town around 150 kilometers from Raipur, had gained a following on social media, where she frequently posted videos and reels. According to police, her parents, who are currently in Hyderabad, were still in shock and unable to provide further details when questioned about the tragedy.
The fatal live stream began on the evening of December 29, when Ankur’s followers watched in horror as she prepared to hang herself. Reportedly, more than 20 viewers were present during the stream, with some attempting to intervene. One of the viewers recalled feeling powerless, unable to assist from afar. Despite their urgent calls and attempts to contact her, they were unable to reach her in time. A few of Ankur’s friends, who were nearby, hurried to her residence, but the door was locked. By the time they managed to enter, they found her lifeless. She was rushed to a local health center, where she was declared dead.

The investigation, led by Nawagarh police, is still in its preliminary stages. Police have suggested that a possible heartbreak related to a love affair might have triggered the tragic decision. Local witnesses have pointed to her increasing isolation and emotional distress, with suspicions that she might have been struggling with personal issues. Ankur’s mobile phone has been seized by authorities to assist the cyber cell in their ongoing inquiry, which could provide more insights into the situation.
