BPSC Protest: Minor Scuffle Erupts Between Police and Aspirants
BPSC Protest LIVE | In Patna, tensions escalated as students demanding a re-examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) prelims took their protest to the streets, defying barricades and marching towards the Chief Minister’s residence. The demonstrations, which began on Saturday at Gandhi Maidan, intensified on Sunday after a “Dharm Sansad” (religious parliament) was convened to strategize the next steps.
During the Dharm Sansad, the students, alleging irregularities in the BPSC examination process, resolved to march to the Chief Minister’s residence to voice their demands directly. They emphasized that their grievances were not being addressed adequately by the state government and that dialogue with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was now essential. The students asserted that their movement was rooted solely in the pursuit of justice and fairness in the examination system and should not be perceived as having any political undertones.
The protest garnered support from Jan Suraaj Party leader Prashant Kishor, who met with the students on Saturday, expressing solidarity with their cause. While Kishor’s involvement added a layer of visibility to the movement, the students were adamant that their demands stemmed from academic concerns rather than political motivations.

BPSC Dharm Sansad
On Sunday, following the Dharm Sansad’s decision, a march began from Gandhi Maidan towards the Chief Minister’s residence. However, security forces intercepted the protesters near Dak Bungalow Chowk, where barricades had been erected to prevent further movement. Undeterred, the students pushed through the barricades, prompting a minor scuffle with the police. Authorities justified their actions by citing the Chief Minister’s absence—he was reportedly in Delhi—and maintained that protests near his residence in his absence would not be permitted. The students, however, staged a sit-in at the site, continuing their demonstration.
The demonstrators insist they will not relent until their demands for a re-examination are met. They argue that the issues they raise are critical to restoring credibility and fairness in the state’s examination system. Meanwhile, the state government has yet to issue a formal response.

As the standoff continues, the focus remains on how the government, particularly Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, will address the students’ concerns. The protests underline a broader call for accountability and reform in the education system, resonating with a growing public sentiment for institutional transparency and fairness.
